CHARACTERISTICS OF " DIAC"

0

 OBJECTIVES :

To draw the VI characteristics of DIAC.

Apparatus Required :

S.No Apparatus Specification Quantity
1 Ammeter 0-10mA 1 No
2 Voltmeter 0-30V 1 No
3 Voltmeter 0-30 V 1 No
4 Resister 1k ohm 1No
5 Connecting wire - -

 Theory :

The terminal TI is positive with respect to terminal T2 and if the voltage applied is less than break over voltage causes a small leakage current flows through the device when the voltage exceeds the break over voltage. It starts conducting and currently becomes very large as the current increases the voltage drop across DIAC decreases here it exhibits negative resistance characteristics, the characteristics are lies in the first quadrant.

 PROCEDURE :

1. Connect the circuit as per the circuit diagram.
2. Positive terminal at supply is given to DIAC. T2 terminal and the negative terminal are given to terminal T1.
 3. Observation is made from an ammeter that measures current through DIAC & Voltmeter, which measures the voltage across DIAC.
4. Graph is a plot between V & I by taking.

Result:

obtained VI characteristics of DIAC .
